5th Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide: Day 2
On December 13, the 5th Global Forum of “ Against the Crime of Genocide” entitled “Strengthening the effectiveness of international mechanisms for early warning and early response to the risk of genocide and other atrocity crimes” came to a close in Yerevan.
High-ranking officials, experts, scholars participated in the panel discussions and focused on such topics as genocide and mass crimes preventive tools, existing gaps in international, legal and political framework, as well as international crimes. Questions about mechanisms of early alerts of mass crimes were also discussed.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vahan Kostanyan delivered closing remarks.
The Deputy Minister thanked all speakers for interesting and substantial discussions. Touching upon the panel discussions, Vahan Kostanyan highlighted the importance of the leadership of like-minded small states in promoting the genocide prevention agenda, as well as noted: “we are the international community, and we are the ones who should apply the international law.”
